I have a question about my scar?

Ok so back in August I had spinal fusion surgery and ever since last night my scar looked pinkish. So I started using Palmer's Coco er oil (it's supposed to reduce the look of the scar) on it and now my scar looks red. Is that normal? Should I stop using this stuff? And I had the surgery to correct my scoliosis so when should I be done settling?
