Can I sue the police department.....?

I was arrested for domestic violence after my wife lied and said i hit her....after my arrest i went to Internal Affairs to complain that the officer arrested me because he felt sorry for my wife. My wife and I are separated and she drove 8 hours to El paso to confront me and my girlfriend....her and my girlfriend got into a fight. my wife went to her car to get a gun and i managed to get it away from her. i called the police and when the cop got there she started crying and told them that i hit her....witnesses said i didnt touch her but the cop lied to the District attorney and told them that those witnesses said i did hit her so i was charged...when internal affairs went to question the witnesses they stated again i had not touched her. the cop got in trouble for not reporting the gun at all in his report and he even gave the bag back that the gun was in to her...the gun was also stolen from the city she had come from which is killeen tx....he got in trouble for not even questioning me and my girlfriend at the scene about what happened because we were the one who called the police...we were just put in a police car....there were several other things...so with him getting in trouble and my allegations against him being proven can i sue the city of el paso?
